Thanks Nolan for this great info graphic!
Click on the image to bring up the link to the video What a great day we had today! We are currently working really hard on our new fraction unit. I have sent home extra practise homework for students who has asked for it, and will happily send more home if it is required.
Everyone really needs to work on their times table recall of facts. We have been struggling to get get them to the level that they need to be by grade 8. Times tables are one of the most important parts of math understanding, and without a solid foundation of these skills, math in the coming years will continue to get very difficult. Tomorrow we have a very exciting day planned. No word on what is going to happen before our debate.. but I am certain you will all enjoy it! See you tomorrow.. please remember to bring in baby food for the food drive!! :) -Miss Hodgins It's the WEEKEND!
We had SUCH a fantastic week in our room! I am so proud of all of my students.. we had our math test and each and everyone of the kids rocked the test. They are all marked and will be coming home Monday! Look out for that! Parents.. I listened during interviews!!! Together as a class, we wrote a note about HOW to study for tests (this will be a very important skill for high school), and we are also working on note taking skills (all of that summarizing work we have been doing). Keep your eyes posted for snippets of homework coming home too. Also, the Christmas season is upon us! As per every year, we are collecting food for local food banks. The item our class has been asked to bring in is baby food, if you are able please send in any jars.. each jar counts to helping our community. Thanks so much for continuing to be invested in your students learning. If you haven't already, please follow me on twitter (@Misshodgins), as well on instagram @Misshodgins8s to see exactly what we are up to during the day! :) Have a wonderful weekend! -Miss Hodgins Hi families!
Just a quick post to let you know that I am back and almost healed up! The kids had a great week with Mrs. Farrell, and we are lucky to have her back on Friday morning when I am at hopefully my last post-op appointment! We are working hard to get through our patterning and algebra unit, and we are expecting to have a test later this week. Keep your eyes open for materials to study, and practise questions the kids can work on to help them study for the upcoming test!! Have a great night! -BH Hi Families!
As some of you may know, last week I had eye surgery. It turns out my recovery long is going to be much longer, but I will be back to work on Thursday. This will not effect any conference times unless I have called you.. if you would like to book a time please email me at [email protected]. I am checking my email regularly from home! Thank you so much for your patience, looking forward to getting back into the class!! -BH Please click the link to be taken to the google document where you can sign up for a time slot... if for some reason it will not allow you to type, please send a note in your childs agenda with two days you would like with the times and I will get back to you. Please note I am away the next two days so you may not hear from me until Monday :)
I have been getting some comments that the google doc is not allowing any edits (proof we are always students!). Have your kids sign into their google classroom account, and you can input your desired time. IF this STILL doesn't work, just email me! [email protected] _ 1) Pita Pit orders due tomorrow.
2) Gold Canyon order form coming home. 3) High school field trip November 5th, forms due November 4th. Thank you! -BH I am so proud of the authentic learning opportunities that take place in our classroom. Check out a recent video of our inquiry on density of liquids! |
