We are ao lucky to have such a great student teacher in our class! Though I also think she is pretty lucky to be in the best class in Simcoe county! Check out some pics! -Miss Hodgins Tonight Mike and I went to Pet Valu to pick up some toys for Hank. Our purchase came to $25.00. When we got to the cash the lady at the register said we could either use a $5 coupon or save 15%. Which option should we pick? Why? Tip.. Today was no tax day too! So don't worry about calculating sales tax. What a great day we had investigating and classifying liquids! We have been learning about the observable characteristics of liquids, and put our skills to the (messy) test today when partners made their own batch of "oobleck"! The kids had an opportunity to use syringes to gather water, and complete a series of tests to help classify the mixture. What a great day! we truly are better together! Don't forget to follow me on twitter! Search my twitter handle @misshodgins -Miss Hodgins Hi! A few of you have been asking about scoring guidelines, so I put together this small chart which will also be posted in our classroom. In grade 8, your report card marks are shown as percentages, and I will be using that system as much as I possibly can. Check out the chart below! -Miss Hodgins Hi Families!
I have been toying around with the website Khan Academy. I think it is a great tool to be used at home for extra practise. We will have a chance to sign up at school but if any of you have any extra time, please follow the instructions below to get a head start! 1) Sign up at khanacademy.org (its free!) 2) Visit khanacademy.org/coaches (click the coaches tab in your profile) 3) In the "add a coach field" type in class number CQE9GX (our class code) 4) Miss Hodgins' Grade 8's should pop up for you to join! Start the mission :) Thank you so much for supporting me in this! Can't wait to see how it works in our classroom! -BH I have easily the best grade 8 class in the school! We have had such a fantastic two days together, I am so looking forward to the rest of the year! Today the kids came up with a classroom mission statement, and rules for an outstanding year.. check it out!
